The iPhone 14 series was announced on September 7, 2022, at Apple’s “Far Out” event, which took place earlier than usual (normally, Apple hosts its iPhone announcement events on the second Tuesday of September, which would have been September 13 this year). Pre-orders for the iPhone 14 series will open in a couple of days, on September 9. The iPhone 14 will be released to the market on September 16, 2022. Despite the rumors for a price hike across the board, Apple kept the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus starting prices at $799 and $899, respectively, while the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max didn't score any price increases either, starting at $999 and $1099.

This year, Apple refreshed the iPhone 14 colors. Green and blue are out, at least on the Pro series, while the regular iPhones lose the pink in favor of a score of a slightly darker shade of violet. Just like in 2022, Apple announced a new iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus color in 2023 - yellow. However, we didn't get a new color option for the iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max.The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus are available in:

As traditionally doesn't disclose battery sizes, but these were quickly unraveled after the phones hit the shelves.

As you can see, it's a toss-up between the iPhone 14 Plus and the iPhone 14 Pro Max. The more affordable model has better audio playback endurance, but the premium iPhone 14 Pro Max has better video playback battery life. It will be very interesting to see how these two compare in terms of real-life usage.

The maximum wired charging is up to 27W for all four models, with up to 50% charge in around 30 minutes. MagSafe is present on all four new models as Apple is continuing to build up the MagSafe ecosystem. The wireless charging is capped at up to 15W.

The big change here is the new 48MP Sony-made 1/1.3-inch camera sensor on the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max, which will be using pixel-binning to achieve much better low-light camera sensitivity than before. The data from four camera sensor pixels will be used together to capture much more detail and less noise, at the expense of lower output image resolution. The FaceTime camera on all models has scored faster aperture and auto-focusing, a rather beneficial change.
